A New Millennium
I had the opportunity to pass through my beloved Rochester last week and, needless to say, I planned to swing by Millennium Games -- aka the greatest game store in the history of humankind. However, I experienced a moment of panic when I saw that Millennium's familiar storefront was empty! I soon realized that the store had moved to a new location (1125 Jefferson Road, for those who know the city), which is bigger and better than either of their previous locations in that little Henrietta Townline Plaza off of West Henrietta. Millennium continues to impress me with every visit. They're a true gem of the gaming community!

Dungeons Pop
In my never-ending search for RPG and wargaming terrain, I love the idea of using 3D terrain, but there are a lot of complicating factors -- cost, storage space, time and effort for painting, etc. -- that make it tough to implement 3D on a large scale. To date, I haven't found a great solution that addresses all of those considerations...until, maybe, now? There's a new Kickstarter called Dungeons Pop, and it offers full-color 3D terrain at an affordable price and requiring very little storage space. How do they pull it off? Well, it's basically like a pop-up book! I'm backing this project not only to get the products shown on the page, but in the hope that the creators eventually branch out into other genres, like sci-fi and modern urban settings. Keep an eye on these folks!

Our Latest Rabbit Hole
After exhaustive research by their top engineer (Matthew) and with the backing of a wealthy investor (Nathaniel), my kids have purchased a 3D printer. Now they'll be able to print miniatures (with an assist from Hero Forge) for minions, troopers, civilians, and other background characters in our roleplaying games, as well as 3D terrain for our wargames. I'll be sure to share photos of their creations once we receive the printer and get it up and running!

2020!
Happy New Year, folks! It's 2020 already. Can you believe it?
Everyone is already talking about "20/20 vision" and "20/20 hindsight" and all that, but when I see this year written out, what I see is two rolls of 20 on a D20. With a 1-in-400 chance of occurring, two 20s is a rare and often game-changing event. In the annals of Druid Cycle lore, for instance, I still recall those epic moments when Jason -- the mighty Sir Roberts -- would roll critical hits on two straight attacks and turn the tide of battle. These days, it seems to be Nathaniel who's been blessed by the dice gods with a knack of rolling 20s, as his Shattered Realm hero Demorus is known for coming through in the clutch.
Here's to a great 2020, and I hope this is a year of double crits for you and yours!

Free RPG Day News
It feels like kind of a slow time for RPG news (I haven't mentioned an upcoming D&D sourcebook featuring a setting I don't like, but I'll definitely end up buying the book for the official artificer class), so I'm scraping around for any interesting tidbits. Here's an interview with the new owner of Free RPG Day. The fact that Free RPG Day has an owner was news to me, but the really cool part is that the new ownership group includes Millennium Games -- hands-down the best game store in the entire world!
